HOT CHOCOLATE IN THE WEST INDIES




Ingredients
  • 1 Cinnamon stick
  • 1 Lime
  • 1 tsp. coffee Bombay of Maïzena
  • 1 pinch Grated nutmeg
  • 1 pinch Ground vanilla
  • 15 cl Water
  • 20 g Cocoa powder bitter
  • 200 g Sweetened condensed milk
  • 50 cl Semi-skimmed milk

Instructions
  1. In a saucepan, pour 5 cl of water
  2. Wash and dry the lemon, peel the zest into a ribbon. Put it in the pan. Add the cinnamon stick, nutmeg and vanilla. Boil the water
  3. Pour in the milk, add the condensed milk and the rest of the water. Bring to a shudder again, stirring the mixture with a wooden spoon
  4. In a bowl, mix the cornstarch with a skin of water. Pour into the pan and add the cocoa powder. Stir well and stir for 10 minutes over low heat
  5. At the end of cooking, remove the spices and serve immediately.

Recipe Notes
Tip: Serve hot chocolate with buttered Martinic bread.
